Last night I attended a fashion show for Moda Waheed who designs evening wear here in Dubai. Despite the brand not truly being my style of evening wear, I quite enjoyed some of his pieces and the experience of the show in general. We were treated to the amazing vocal talent Crystal and a surprise performance by a famous Egyptian signer, who was a guest of the owner and designer. I got to meet Mr. Waheed as well who was really friendly and down to earth and I absolutely had a blast attending his show.
With every fashion event one of my favourite parts is meeting new people that I often only know through their blogs or Instagram accounts, and also seeing those familiar faces that I hadn’t seen in a long time. Firstly, it was incredible meeting the CEO of the fashion festival this year who was extremely down to earth. I also ran into some of my favourite people inside the Virgin VIP lounge such as Phoebe from Lady Melbourne, Sophia from Every Day Like This, Leeyong from Style Wilderness, Jess from What Would Karl Do, and Michelle from Two Halves. Also I got to meet Nikki from States of Style who I was sitting next to during one of the shows, as well as Tiffany from Divine Wanderer and the illustrator Alexis Petsinis.
Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival premier runway 7 was presented by In-Style Magazine. It also happened to be In-Style’s 15th birthday so we were definitely in for a treat for the finale. Walking down the runway were some of my favourite australian labels such as THURLEY, AURELIO COSTARELLA, ARTHUR GALAN, CAMILLA, MACGRAW, and TRELISE COOPER. A big thank you for AMPR for having me and organizing this great event.
It’s no secret that Autumn is my favourite season. And although it’s been quite warm this week, I couldn’t wait to bring out my autumn/winter clothing out to play on the first night I attended fashion week. I kept the colours quite earthy and warm with the burned orange top, beige coat and faux leather skin coloured pencil skirt. Then when I was looking through my closet to decide on what purse to use I came across my Missoni clutch that I had found in Italy almost two years ago, and I thought it matched what I was wearing perfectly.
Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival premier runway 2, presented by frankie Magazine and supported by Schwarzkopf at Priceline Pharmacy, was held on Monday night at Central Pier in Docklands which featured brands such as Alpha 60, Bul, Gorman, Kloke, Kuwaii and Limedrop. It was curated in a very youthful and quirky manner which fit the image of frankie magazine quite well. Colourful patterns and bright monochrome pieces were featured throughout the show as the models rocked a bold splash of colour on the eyes and braids in their hair, giving them an edgy yet casual look.
Last night Ms Collins hosted an exquisite private dinner showcasing some of Melbourne’s greatest chefs who had put together a delightful menu for us to enjoy. The four chefs included Jacques Reymond, Daniel Wilson (from Huxtable and Huxtaburger), Paul Wilson (from Icebergs) and Riccardo Momesso (from Valentino)
